The Itasca, Illinois racecar driver has a driving resume that would make a racer twice his age envious. To accompany his tens of thousands of on-track miles, numerous track records and countless race wins, Ryan has what many racers never achieve, a National Championship.
Ryan is a very goal oriented individual with a deep passion for auto racing. In 2008 Ryan set and accomplished his goal of being the 2008 GTS4 National Champion - the highest level of amateur racing in North America. In 2009, Ryan has set sight on being the SCCA Spec Miata National Champion; another step towards his ultimate goal of reaching victory lane at the 24 Hours of Daytona.

What looked initially to be a very frustrating weekend at the SCCA Kettle National for Ryan Osiecki and the TiresDirect.net spec Miata turned out with a promising 2nd place podium finish. As the last national road race before the Championship Runoffs at the expansive 4.0 mile Road America circuit meant a good showing would be difficult as the best driver’s in the nation converged.
The young Osiecki and the TiresDirect.net crew had their work cut out for them after a trying qualifying run to 13th place. “The TiresDirect.net spec Miata was struggling in practice with an oversteer issue, but Al Valenzo helped trouble shoot the situation, but the initial pace was not where we wanted it to be,” noted Osiecki.
As the 27-car spec Miata field came to the green flag Osiecki made a three wide move into turn one.
“I was able to make smart and aggressive moves which allowed me to move up 6 positions. Towards the middle of the race an oil spill in the carousel pulled nearly 15 cars in the pea gravel, but with some heads up driving we were able to maneuver around the pileup,” Said Osiecki.
The race had to be black flagged due to the accident in the Carousel. The race officials deemed the race would not continue due to the safety of the conditions, thus with some luck and car control Osiecki would end up second in the overall classification.
“We were a little lucky to avoid the big one out there, but I’m thankful we did and thankful for the great work of my crew that put the TiresDirect.net Miata on the podium,” Said Osiecki.
In addition to the competitive finish in the last race of the “regular season” Osiecki ended up third in division points for the Central Division.
“I am very proud of the performance from the team, this allowed us to finish 3rd in the overall season point standings in the SCCA Central Division.
TiresDirect.net has been working extremely hard to support the racing community with the best Toyo Tires available and more importantly their new tire shaving service. The quality is outstanding and the results show with our Spec Miata program,” Said Osiecki.
